Meet the cast PART II
I have known Anushka since the days when winning inter-school drama competitions were of paramount importance. I directed her in ‘Oedipus Rex’ in 1992, and since then we have maintained a friendship which drove her one day drunkenly to declare “ if I had a sister, it would be you”. Meet the cast PART I
Just two weeks to go before opening night, and we’ve been rehearsing all this time without Karen (playing Julia), who lives in Singapore. She came down a week ago, and the effect is amazing. The play has really come to life and taken shape.
Karen and I started Mind Adventures together in 1999, with our friend Michelle Perera. To my mind, it would be hard to find two better actresses. By 2002, both had left the country, and it has taken me a while to find actors as gifted as they are. But I have found them, and Piyumi in particular is now with us for the third time. Our last show, 3 Star K starred Piyumi in a role that was a little unusual and strange to say the least.

Hello world!
wow. this is my first ever blog, set up for me by my husband who is far more into this stuff than i am. i admire people who can do it because i seem to have lost the will or perhaps the attention span needed to fully participate. i’ve heard tales of ranting and raving and mad conversations about pretty much everything, and i feel a certain envy at the time…but never actually do anything about it when i’m on the net…which is rare these days (one baby on the outside, another growing on the inside. heh) (more…)
